Onam, the festival of harvest among the Keralite community from India, was celebrated across UAE Exchange. Employees participated with much enthusiasm. Irrespective of the culture or nation, they represent, employees dressed up in the traditional attire of Kerala. They got together to decorate flowers in an elaborate fashion, called ‘Pukkalam’, as is the tradition for Onam. Payasam, the sweet traditionally made on the occasion was also distributed.

Dr. B R Shetty, MD & CEO, UAE Exchange, was the Chief Guest at the function, which released the book titled ‘Lata – Voice of the Golden Era’ by Dr. Mandhar V Bichu, a leading paediatrician in the UAE. The book attempts to encapsulate the life and times of Bharat Ratna Lata Mangeshkar, the legendary singer of Indian film industry. UAE Exchange, by supporting the book, had the opportunity to being part of the tribute, which celebrates the iconic singer, who is known as the ‘Nightingale of India’.

Towards this aim UAE Exchange sponsored the mega cultural event with the theme Dwayam - The Power of Two, which celebrated the ethnic culture of India. The event, held in the UAE, was organised by Soorya, the biggest society for art and culture in the world. Directed by Mr. Krishnamoorthy, founder of Soorya, the event was staged in Dubai on 20th May, 2011 and in Abu Dhabi on 21st May, 2011.
